nice handbook... I'm working on my third Fila and I'm still learning... try to get a pup at 8-10 weeks.. because they socialize well at this age but always remember that they're PROTECTION dogs and they are really good at their job...females seem to be a little better to socialize but they may react faster than a male... mother bear protecting cub, they make up their mind and go..
males seem to react a little slower taking some time to decide because they are absolutely sure they can deal wit the situation...
either way, males or females, there is no reverse once they make up their minds.. this is not a dog for a first time owner and the doesn't mean just because you own a chihuahua your equipped to deal with a Fila...
one other thing... generally Filas get along with other animals... the ones they know are family are safe but outside all bets are off... both my females got pretty dog aggressive because they turned people aggression to animals... if that happens keep them ON LEASH....

A very good book. I was hard for me to find any books on the Fila Brasileiro breed. It was informative and I think others would find the same.
This book is okay and is the only English book I could find on the breed. Most of the information you could find online but it is nice to have in a single source "real" book.
EXCELLENT SOURCE OF MATERIAL ABOUT THIS BREED. I HAVE A FILA BRASILEIRO AND THE BOOK HELPED A LOT TO UNDERSTAND THE BREED. IF YOU LOVE DOGS, WHO ARE MORE HUMAN THAN MOST HUMANS.... YOU HAVE TO HAVE A FILA. AN ANGEL IN A DOG'S BODY.
